A reception set by Xtreme Events: a draped canopy ring with moving heads, mirror balls, the DJ booth and a black-and-white dancefloor

What we tell every couple.

Wisdom from decades of dancefloors. These are the things that keep yours full.

From the DJ booth

Read this before you plan the night.

  1. Choose your MC Carefully ! Someone who isn't afraid of speaking and someone that can create a "Vibe". This will ensure a great vibe along with the DJ.

  2. Remember to enjoy your day!!!!! Do not expect everything to be exactly according to schedule! Someone is always late/anything could happen.... But please be assured that we will never be late.

  3. We will always be there before 9AM to set up everything so please communicate and confirm setup times with the venue. Important

  4. Please do not worry about an extra table for the DJ & Assistant. They will enjoy the dinner at the DJ Table to keep an eye on everything technical.

  5. Try to place all the youngsters near the DJ & The loudspeakers. And all the hearing-sensitive persons as far away as possible from the DJ/Sound System

  6. Please also confirm with the venue that there will be sufficient Power available for our equipment.

  7. If there isn't power available at the ceremony, please do not expect us to bring a generator. It is the responsibility of the Venue to supply power not more than 40M Away from the ceremony.

  8. Try to commence the ceremony around 3:30PM. This will prevent a very long, hot/ stretched day and it will be perfect timing for the Photoshoot while the guests enjoy themselves at the canapés while background music is playing. ! & Trust us...

  9. Try as hard as possible to stray away from interruptions of the DJ/ dancing-time once the dancefloor is open.

  10. Try to complete all the proceedings, speeches / meal-times before you open the dancefloor. Important

  11. Please do not book a room for our team more than 10km away. We charge AA RATES ! And we would like to help you save money.

  12. Once the dancefloor is open, it is very cringe if the MC Decides to stop the dancing for another Speech/Unimportant announcements

  13. The DJ Will Read the crowd, Please feel free to ask for requests, the DJ will choose an appropriate time to transition between songs because he is always trying to match the BPM. So for example, If he is busy with a Commercial set of dance hits, and the crowd is enjoying it, please do not expect him to play a slow dance song directly after his current song! This will ruin the vibe. Important

  14. A Thirsty/Hungry DJ is an unhappy DJ.

  15. The DJ & Assistant will NOT be drinking alcohol.

  16. Choose an uplifting /upbeat Chapel-Exit Song & Reception Entry-Song. Please ask for suggestions.

  17. Low fog machines only have a 30% chance of working and we do NOT recommend it at all. / Any type of smoke during the first dance. This will also unfocus the camera of the photographers resulting in bad first dance Pictures. We will only use smoke later during the night when the crowd is going crazy !

  18. A Crowd with sparklers surrounding the couple whilst the first dance always makes the best Lighting for pictures and a great vibe !

  19. Choose Cold sparkler machines or confetti cannons instead of low-fog machines.

  20. Amber/Warm White uplighting is a better vibe-setting than colours like blue / red / pink But it still depends on you !
